Figaro Academy of Music is finally situated in our new location in Irving.  We are very proud of the changes and of the new services we will be able to offer.  We have hired three new teachers for guitar, voice and strings, and will be posting information about them in the days to come.  We believe that you will be very pleased with the quality of our instructors. We went out of our way to find highly qualified teachers who genuinely care about the students and who love what they do, and we feel tremendously blessed to have been able to bring the best of the best into Figaro.

Beginning Guitar Class

4 Week introductory course

Saturday mornings

9:10-9:55 Ages 7-10

10-10:45 Ages 11-14

10:50-11:35 Ages 15-adult

Cost:$100

Students should bring their own guitar to class.

Course Description:

An introduction to basic guitar techniques for beginners.  Topics covered in each class will include;

Class I.   Posture/seating position, tone production, left hand/right hand coordination exercises.

Class II.  Left hand finger independence exercises, the five basic chord forms in first position, and reading chord diagrams.

Class III. Right hand strumming patterns and reading chord charts.

Class IV. The Major scale pattern, and basic note reading in treble clef.

Familiar songs will be used to exemplify the techniques above.

Beginning Piano Class for Adults

This class is for adults who cannot yet read music, and want to learn to play for their own enjoyment in a fun, no pressure situation.  You will be able to read music notation and play songs after the very first class!

4 Week introductory course

Thursday evenings

Cost $100 tuition, $7.50 book

Piano Boot Camp for Kids or Adults

This class is for anyone with no previous experience on the piano.  We will meet for six classes during two weeks and finish with a recital.  Have fun, make new friends, and learn to play the piano without making a long-term commitment to private lessons!

6:45-7:30 Ages 9-12

7:30-8:15 Ages 13-adult

Instant Piano Workshop (for Hopelessly Busy People)

If you yearn to experience the joy of playing piano, but you don't want years of weekly lessons, this short course is for you.  In just a few hours you can learn enough secrets of the trade to make piano playing a part of your life.

How is it done?  Typical piano lessons teach you note reading, but piano professionals use chords.  You will learn all the chords needed to play any pop song in this one session: any song, any style, any key.  And you'll get a healthy dose of insider secrets.  You'll need to know the treble clef.  If you don't, contact us before the class for a free pamphlet.  For piano, organ, or portable keyboard.
